Well we’re not Sid and Nancy, but we’re not John and Jeanette,
We yell at the kids in the morning, and cuddle them in bed
Every Night
And the house could use some fixin, and the shitbox car,
We’re saving coupon and I’m playing songs on a package deal guitar
And it’s the Aldi version of our dream come true,
Never quite right but it’ll have to fucken do
Every night
And the dinner before payday, might just be cheese on toast,
Accompanied by cheesy grins from the ones that I love the most,
And the kids want a house like the ones in the next suburb along
Maybe Dad should have been a banker, not an artist who sings stupid songs
Every night
And we’re balancing laughs and smiles and tears and tantrums, Stresses and messes and farts and medicine
Soccer games, period pains, hoping our rate payments stay the same
Mortgage shackles, maniacal cackles, from kids who have overdosed on chocolate crackles
Beaming smiles and homework answers, broken hearts and loving glances
Every night
And we’ll keep our glasses half full, cuddle the kids to sleep at night,
We’ll deal with the morning when it comes, another day another compromise
And of course I’d never trade it, there’s nothing that I would rather do,
Than ride with the beauty and the chaos and wind up sleeping next to you
Every night
